become widespread in Argentina. We inherited this
sport from the British that lived in Argentina
and worked mainly for the railway and insurance
companies.
• There are records that indicate that back
in 1885, englishmen began the practice with their
golf clubs at locations close to their homes.
• According to the book "History of
the Hurlingham Club" published by the institution
in commemoration of this 100th aniversary in 1988,
this club was the first one to have a golf course
in our country.
• It started off with nine holes designed
by William Lacey and was inaugurated on 1892.
